comfort food...pot pie

In the cold days of winter I crave "comfort food" and one of them is pot pie.
Jeff has me on a "make use of the meat in our freezer instead of buying more" plan so I made a pheasant pie with puff pastry one day last week.
No recipe but lots of good ingredients on hand so I "winged it", with sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, fresh mushrooms, parsnips, fresh rosemary, thyme and sage along with the pheasant. Yum!

Oh my gosh, I'd nearly forgotten about our little chickie dishes! My dad used to hunt pheasant and I haven't eaten it since it was a little so I don't even remember the taste. Looks yummy! Your dinner doesn't have the name Joseph in it, does it - LOL.

I never had pheasant, but my old next door neighbors were hunters and always asked us if we wanted, but Larry was always too picky, so no. Looks delicious, I bet he'd have tried in a pot pie!

Marsha, I think we can all relate to needing to use up what is in the freezer. Although I have to admit, when you mentioned it, pheasant never entered my mind.

I had to chuckle at Susan's comment about Joseph. When I read you post, my thoughts also went to Joseph AND Johnny. ... Glad it was a "thumbs up" recipe for both of you.
