It snowed all weekend so to pass the time I made cookies. Normal sugar cookies made in the cookie mold pan I mentioned in the last post and chocolate sugar cookie cut outs. I was never the type of mom that made cute cut out cookies for every holiday - frankly no one in our family really cared for sugar cookies, they would rather have chocolate chip cookies so it wasn't worth the effort. In my browsing of recipes this weekend I came across a recipe for chocolate sugar cookies on the Joy of Baking.com site that looked worth trying. They were definitely the favorite of the two types of cookies made. I look forward to tweaking the chocolate recipe for even more fudgy goodness. You can find the full recipe for the chocolate sugar cookies on the Joy of baking site HERE. I did not use the royal icing as they recommend but our favorite glace icing which does not get as hard from the Our Best Bites site. You can find that recipe HERE.Marsha - Thumbs UP

Marsha, another mom here that didn't make sugar cookies for our children. They would rather have the chocolate chippers. The color combination of the chocolate hearts with red glace icing is striking. I love the tablecloth (or runner) with the cupcakes on it. You have a nice assortment of Valentine treats Marsha!
Ditto regarding the chocolate chip cookies here :) Since then, I've found a sugar cookie that we like much better but those chocolate sugar cookies really have my attention!
Marsha, what a pretty and delicious looking variety of cookies! ... I love sugar cookies but do not enjoy decorating them. (Actually, I enjoy the first 5 or 6 but then find it pure drudgery.) I also like chocolate chip cookies with LOTS of nuts. Good job on all of yours, and in my opinion you can never have too many sprinkles.
I'll take mine, Marsha, with a big glass of cold milk! Those look gorgeous, and delicious!
Those look delicious, Marsha..chocolate rolled cookies..never made those..
Hope the poster above left me some, you know how she is!
