Winter Whites...

Today, I am joining the White Christmas/Winter White blog party over at my friend, Kathleen's blog, Cuisine Kathleen. Please click HERE to visit her blog with the links to all the other bloggers participating. As you can see there is no shortage of the white cold stuff outside at my house, it will definitely be a White Christmas here in MN.I've participated in 2 of Kathleen's white events before but had to bend the rules a little since I didn't have any all white plates. This summer I purchased a full set of 9 (and there 12 of many of the pieces) of Mikasa French Countryside dinnerware at Goodwill for $29. Many of the pieces still had the original price tags on the bottom of the plates leaving me to wonder who would have donated them. A check tonight of the Mikasa website shows a single place setting selling for $39.99 so I think I got quite a bargain.
The white 60x120 tablecloth with silver snowflakes is another GW bargain at $6.99. The glittery silver placemats are from Kmart and were purchased for the black/white/red table I did for the tablesetting fair several weeks ago.
The centerpiece is composed of a rectangular mirror topped with a lighted arrangement in a mirror vase, silver beads, mirrored star ornaments, little white ceramic birds, silver glittered trees, candles and fresh flowers. The place card holders are also mirrored and I didn't realize until I downloaded my photos that I forgot to put name cards in them...oops.
At Christmas, I like to use ornaments for vases. The silver balls were purchased several years ago at GW and I removed the tops. I balance them on some crystal candle holders also purchased at GW just for this purpose. I love how the single gerber daisy reflects on the ornament.
In fact, I love how everything reflects in the ornaments and mirrors...well, except for the photographer :)
A closer look at the mirrored centerpiece...
and a mosaic showing how everything sparkled in the bright sunshine.
The main reason I like to use the mirror in a variety of centerpieces is because of candlelit dinners.
I prefer to set the coffee cups on the side until dessert, none of my guests drink coffee with their meal but like it with a rich dessert.
The white tree is a GW find and is lit with one of those round press on lights that are usually hung in closets.
The butterfly clip on in the centerpiece has special meaning and will be put on our Christmas tree for years to come. A butterfly is the symbol of infant loss from miscarriage or stillbirth and honors the memory of Ethan, our grandson born into heaven.
It sparkles with hope in the darkness.
Wishing all those who want one a white Christmas...me, I'd be happier with a warmer one - it's COLD here.

Wow, Marsha! You certainly don't need any indoor photography tips! Everything is beautiful in your post. I love the reflections of the white Gerber daisies in the ornament vases. How creative. I never would have thought to use an ornament as a vase - brilliant!

Lovely post. Kathleen will love it too ;)

Marsha, your table is beautiful...with all the sparkle and glitter befitting the season.
Your centerpiece is stunning, especially incorporating the butterfly...love that you use the orbs as mini bud vases. How clever to use the press on lights to light up the tree...I just have no creative bones in my old body!
You should do Tablescape Thursday each week!

What a gorgeous table you have set, I adore all of the glittery silver and white. A mirror is such a smart idea, relecting back the candlelight so beautifully.
You have a great GW, I have never found anything like your little treasures at my GW. It does have lots of old silver and antiques, though.
I'm glad you will have a white Christmas, there's never any doubt of it where I live, that's one reason I love it here.
Hugs, Cindy

Marsha...this table is stunning and you have got to be kidding about getting those lovely Mikasa dishes at GW...and I thought I shopped at a wonderful GW. Your ball vases are simply perfect and your tablecloth adds texture to the entire scape.

CHRISTmas Blessings!

What a great buy with the china! It looks lovely on the silver chargers. Your centerpiece is so pretty with the special meaning butterfly. Your lighting the white tree with the battery closet light was quite clever. I hope your light works better than the ones I have- I can never get those things to last! And I'm sure I'm turning them off!! LOL
I've used glass ornaments as flower holders, as well. HERE is a link for the post where I used them last Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. ~ Sue

LOL, you have more than enough White to last for months and months. Ours lasted a day. All gone :(

I think this is one my favorite white tablescapes thus far. Everything is just so beautiful. I saw the little snowmen you made on another blog and was hoping to see how you made them here. They are just so cute. Love the centerpiece and those butterfly ornaments. Hope you have a blessed holiday season.

Hi Marsha,
Your table, and entire room for that matter is charming. Love the whole feel. I also love that mirror in the center...I forgot I had some of those. Thanks for the inspiration, I shall dig them out. You know how our "things" like to come out for a pretty table.
Thanks for sharing

I had a butterfly baby and I never ever knew the butterfly was a symbol. But maybe that's why I have a special affinity for them. :) I have some butterfly ornaments I have never used but I sure am going to now. And you are so so clever to use the silver round ornament as a vase. That's ingenious! Happy White Party....yours is just gorgeous!

Thank you for teaching us about the butterfly babies. We have a butterfly grandbaby...and I had a butterfly baby...what a precious was to remember them...soft wings fluttering heavenward. I love the silver ornaments used as a vase for a single blossom...genius idea! Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
